This SHS 1 Literature-in-English course provides a strong foundation in the study of literature, fully aligned with the Ghana Education Service curriculum.
In this introductory unit, students explore what literature is, its forms, genres, and its importance in society. The course is designed to build critical thinking, analytical skills, and cultural awareness while preparing students for internal assessments and WAEC examinations.
Students will learn the two main forms of literature: Oral and Written literature. Through engaging explanations and practical examples, learners will examine oral literature such as riddles, proverbs, folktales, songs, and dirges. They will also explore written literature and its three major genres: Prose, Poetry, and Drama.
